Jean Rowe, LSCW + CJT

Jean is an expert consultant and trusted voice in the field of young adult cancer. Her work includes educational product and program development, delivery, management and evaluation. Jean supervises individuals working toward clinical licensure as social workers. She is an expert facilitator who designs, implements and delivers continuing education for healthcare providers and journal writing workshops to young adult cancer survivors and the general public.


Jean has presented regionally, nationally and internationally on varied topics related to her work and interests. She has worked with others through companies providing virtual therapy and is guest faculty with Cactus Cancer Society. Jean provides supervision to individuals working towards clinical licensure as social workers and provides clinical consultation to those already licensed.

Areas of expertise

  • Jean has been in the young adult oncology space for over 15 years. Her background includes program development, management and evaluation on topics of particular interest to this population, including, but not limited to, sex and intimacy, grief and loss and coping with everyday living.

  • Jean ​​crafts and facilitates unique, organizational journal writing workshops as well as develops targeted educational, topic-specific programs. Delivery, management and evaluations of workshops and programs are key elements which includes staying current with what is most important to those she serves.

  • For over 10 years, Jean has supervised others working towards clinical licensure as social workers. This includes using creative, different learning modalities and serving as an expert voice for the licensure process. She is certified in North Carolina as a clinical supervisor and is a board-approved supervisor in South Carolina.. Jean is passionate about this service to contribute to the social work profession.

  • Starting with a writing group of cancer survivors in 2006, Jean has built a niche journal writing market working with others managing the collateral impact of a cancer diagnosis. This extends to the healthcare providers who serve them to address compassion fatigue, burnout and moral distress.
